• ALPOLIC®/fr LT-ACM is a aluminum composite material composed of a non-combustible mineral-filled core sandwiched between two skins of aluminum sheets. The core material is made of non-combustible mineral-filled core (70% aluminum trihydroxide) providing unsurpassed fire-retardant benefits. Both topside and backside skins make use of 0.3 mm thick aluminum alloy (1100-H14). The topside surface is finished with a high-performance polyester coating and the back of ALPOLIC®/fr LT-ACM has a service coating preventing the panel from corrosion due to the contact with steel structure or high alkalinity cement structure. There are special rust preventing coatings between the inner cladding panel and the mineral-filled core to prevent inside corrosion and possibly detachment of the panel and the inner material.

The back of ALPOLIC/fr, which will face the structural wall or steel when it is installed as a cladding panel, has a polyester-based wash coating or a service coating to protect it from possible corrosion problems. There are special rust preventing coating between the inner cladding panel and the mineral-filled core to prevent inside corrosion and possibly detachment of the panel and the inner material.

  • ALPOLIC®/fr -CCM is composed of a non-combustible mineral-filled core sandwiched between two skins of copper sheets. The core material is made of non-combustible mineral-filled core (70% aluminum trihydroxide) providing unsurpassed fire-retardant benefits. Both topside and backside skins make use of 0.4 mm thick copper sheets (C11000). ALPOLIC®/fr-CCM offers high durability against corrosion and a natural copper accent with an ever-changing patina constantly evolving to add richness and depth to any building’s façade.

  • ALPOLIC®/fr -SCM is composed of a non-combustible mineral-filled core sandwiched between two skins of stainless steel sheets. The core material is made of non-combustible mineral-filled core (70% aluminum trihydroxide) providing unsurpassed fire-retardant benefits. Both topside and backside skins make use of 0.3 mm thick stainless steel sheets (NSSC 220M). The use of highly rust-resistant ferric stainless steel offers outstanding rust resistance superior to conventional stainless steel 316.

The core material is made of non-combustible mineral-filled core (70% aluminum trihydroxide) providing unsurpassed fire-retardant benefits. The topside skin makes use of 0.3 mm thick titanium sheets and the backside skin is 0.3 mm thick high quality stainless steel. The titanium metal quickly forms a stable metal oxide film or “Passivated film”, which has unparalleled corrosion resistance. ALPOLIC®/fr-TCM is suitable for exterior cladding or building roofing purpose in highly corrosive environment.

  • Note 1: To cope with the lower machinability of titanium and stainless steel, we have to use special cutting and grooving methods for TCM. We normally use a square shear or a CNC router for cutting, and a CNC router or a V-cut machine (planer) for grooving.

    Note 2: Use stainless steel rivets for assembly. Aluminum rivets, if used for TCM panel assembly, may be corroded with the galvanic corrosion. Refer to the separate TCM brochure for details.

  • ALPOLIC®/fr ZCM is a zinc composite material with a non-combustible mineral-filled core, used as an exterior cladding and roof covering on new buildings and retrofit applications. The material is manufactured by Mitsubishi Plastics Composites America, Inc., a subsidiary company of Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc., and furnished by approved dealers or distributors.

    The core has the same contents as the established fire-retardant core of ALPOLIC/fr. The topside surface is protected with a self-adhesive peel-off protective film.

  • ALPOLIC®/fr ZCM is produced using VM Zinc’s Quartz Zinc Coils. The skin metal is a real zinc alloy weathered with a chemical conversion process, which later develops to a distinctive gray appearance through natural weathering.

  • We estimate that ZCM will have a lower fire resistance than ALPOLIC/fr 4mm has, because of the lower melting point of zinc alloy.

  • (1) Processing method
    As the machining performance of zinc metal is quite similar to that of aluminum metal, we can process ZCM with the same machines and tools that we have used for Aluminum Composite Material (ACM). The working parameters are also the same, as long as the processing is in the extent of usual range. Namely, we can cut ZCM with circular saws, fold it after grooving with router, bend it with a 3-roll bender and press brake, and weld it with hot-melt adhesive.

    (2) Galvanic corrosion Contact between different metals will cause an electrochemical reaction under moist conditions. As zinc has a lower corrosion potential than copper and iron, galvanic corrosion will accelerate the corrosion of zinc alloy with these metals. Use stainless steel and aluminum for screws and rivets for assembling ZCM panels.

    (3) Color difference between production lots
    It is possible that the color of initial finish shows an obvious difference between production lots. We recommend ordering the full quantity for the project in one order. Even in one production lot, slight color difference may exist in the initial finish, although it is produced in a continuous chemical process.

    (4) Handling
    When you handle a long ZCM panel, hold the middle of the panel in addition to both ends, because ZCM is heavier than ALPOLIC/fr 4mm and tends to have a large warping with its dead load.

    (5) Storing and transportation
    Store the panels in a less humid and ventilated indoor places. Avoid contact with wet surface and keep dry during transportation and at construction site.

    (6) Protective film
    The ZCM surface is covered with a peeling-off film to protect from scratch during fabrication and installation. Remove the film soon after the installation is completed. Leaving the film long after installation may cause an extreme difficulty in removing the film.
